What goes into a proper aircon installation

A bad aircon install causes problems for years. A vacuum step skipped today shows up as a failed compressor in three years. A copper joint flared incorrectly leaks refrigerant slowly until the system gives up.

A proper installation has six non-negotiable steps:

1. Load sizing — matching BTU to room size and direction of sun
2. BCA-compliant bracket mounting — external brackets that meet Singapore building rules
3. Copper trunking — concealed where possible, protected against UV
4. Condensate routing — sloped 1° downward to a drain or condensate pump
5. Vacuum + pressure test — pulling moisture out before refrigerant is charged
6. First-run verification — measuring supply temperature with a probe

HDB-specific considerations
